Today the problem of intensifying teaching methods in college stands in line with major problems of the modern system of higher and professional education. Search for present-day procedures and methods of teaching foreign languages in view of changing accents, namely, strengthening active cognitive role of the student and increasing the volume of self-study is an imperative of our time. This article considers potential advantages and features of the case method as a modern procedure in teaching foreign languages. It provides analysis of its features in the context of its practical use at the foreign language lesson in the economic academic institution. Attention is drawn to the consequence and significance of its each Case Study stage (preparation, discussion and analysis). It revels the advantages of this method, as well as the difficulties in using cases at the foreign language lesson and incorrect practices of assessing the results.
