“Infrasound from technical installations” – a reply Objective: The assumption that infrasound from wind turbines (WT-IS) is harmful to health is not plausible a priori and therefore requires solid scientific evidence. In their publication “Infrasound from technical installations – Scientific basis for an assessment of health risks” (ASU 07/2021), the authors Roos and Vahl claim to provide such evidence. The aim of this paper is to verify whether the argumentation of Roos and Vahl is suitable to support the conclusion of a supposed adverse health effect of WT-IS. Methods: The validity of the argumentation and suitability of the literature citations quoted by Roos and Vahl as evidence for their statements were examined by reviewing the argumentation, the content of the cited references and the physical background. Results: The argumentation contains glaring errors in logical structure, misrepresentation and misinterpretation of study results, and erroneous representations of physical principles. A large number of statements are not supported by the references cited. Obvious conflicts of interest were not disclosed by the authors. Conclusions: Due to the aforementioned weaknesses, the publication by Roos and Vahl does not represent a usable contribution to the current debate on the health effects of WT-IS.
