Beyond being an institution of philanthropy and a type of spirituality – piousness icon, the waqfs have impact on the creation of the urban spaces of Islamic cities. Many services required in the city, like religious and cultural services, education services, health services, infrastructure and public works, social security and support services, and philanthropy services, have been provided through funds established as waqfs. This research is intended to examine the impact of waqfs on the formation and development of historical commercial zone (bazaar) which is a morphological trace of the Islamic city and to reveal the relationship between commercial properties and service buildings of waqfs erected as a pious act. The contributions of waqfs to Islamic urbanism have been analysed in the development of bazaar, through the main example of Kayseri. This study has shown that waqfs have important contributions in the establishment and management of the urban commercial infrastructures of Islamic cities. Oz Bir hayirseverlik kurumu ve bir cesit maneviyat, dindarlik ikonu olmanin otesinde, vakiflarin Islam kentlerinde kentsel mekânlarin olusturulmasinda etkisi vardir. Dini ve kulturel hizmetler, egitim hizmetleri, saglik hizmetleri, altyapi ve bayindirlik, sosyal guvenlik ve yardim hizmetleri, hayirseverlik hizmetleri gibi Islam kentinde gerekli olan bircok hizmet, vakiflar olarak kurulan fonlar araciligiyla saglanmistir. Bu arastirmada, Islam sehrinin morfolojik izlerinden biri olan tarihi ticaret bolgesinin (carsi) olusumu ve gelisimi uzerinde vakiflarin etkisini incelemek ve ticari mulkler ile dindar bir hareket olarak insa edilen hizmet binalari arasindaki iliskiyi ortaya koymak amaclanmistir. Arastirmada Islam sehirciligine vakiflarin katkisi Kayseri’de carsinin gelisimi uzerinden analiz edilmistir. Bu calisma vakiflarin Islam kentlerinin kentsel ticari altyapilarinin kurulmasi ve yonetiminde onemli katkilara sahip oldugunu gostermistir.  Anahtar Kelimeler: Vakif kurumu, Islami sehircilik, kentsel mekân, kentsel ticari donatilar, mulk, tarihi ticaret bolgesi, carsi.
