Ce travail explore les possibilités d’établir certains indicateurs d’impacts environnementaux dans la base de données technicoéconomiques du Réseau d’information comptable agricole (RICA) français. La méthode de l’analyse de cycle de vie est appliquée pour estimer la contribution des activités agricoles au changement climatique et à l’utilisation d’énergie non renouvelable. L’hétérogénéité observée semble liée à l’orientation productive des exploitations et à leur localisation géographique. Les exploitations d’élevage, et notamment les élevages bovins, contribuent le plus au changement climatique en raison de leurs émissions élevées de méthane entérique. Les consommations d’énergie non renouvelable peuvent être relativement plus importantes dans certains systèmes spécialisés en cultures annuelles (notamment céréales et grandes cultures). Les exploitations mixtes, qu’elles se consacrent à plusieurs espèces d’animaux ou qu’elles associent élevage et productions végétales, se positionnent souvent comme les spécialisées dont elles se rapprochent le plus. À l’échelle régionale, une grande variabilité des indicateurs apparaît. En considérant les exploitations spécialisées en production de lait et celles spécialisées en céréales, leurs émissions directes de gaz à effet de serre et leurs consommations indirectes d’énergie prédominent. Les exploitations spécialisées en production de lait présentent une variabilité interrégionale élevée par hectare qui semble se réduire quand elle est considérée par rapport à la valeur de la production. Par contraste, la faible variabilité interrégionale par hectare des exploitations spécialisées en céréales s’accroît quand elle est considérée par rapport à la production. L’étude mérite certains approfondissements pour valider ces résultats et pour mieux comprendre les interactions au sein des systèmes de production agricoles qui combinent le plus souvent plusieurs productions végétales et/ou animales.This work developed environmental indicators from the economic and agricultural database of Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). Two environmental impacts, climate change and non-renewable energy use, were estimated from the database according to the life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. The large variability observed seems to be linked to production orientation and geographic location. Livestock production was strongly correlated with the impact of climate change, particularly cattle production, due to its high emissions of enteric methane. Farms specialized in cereals and cash crops showed high non-renewable energy use, linked with intensive use of mineral fertilizers. Some mixed farm holdings, whether livestock-oriented or crop- and livestock-oriented, had impacts similar to those of the specialized farming system which each of them resembled most. Impacts varied according to geographic location in France. For farms specialized in cereals or dairy production, direct greenhouse gas emissions and indirect energy consumption predominated. Impacts for specialized dairy farms varied greatly per unit of agricultural area (hectares) but less per 1,000 euros of revenue. In contrast, impact variability for specialized cereal farms was lower per hectare but considerably greater per 1,000 euros. Continuing the study will be useful for improving methods and results of these farming systems. It will also be interesting to consider more detailed methods to understand mixed crop-livestock farms, as these systems are widespread
