ThisstudyispartofamulticentricresearchprojectinvolvingsevenuniversitiesinfiveLatinAmericancountriesand oneCaribbeanisland(Jamaica).Thiscross-sectionalstudyexaminestheprofileofasampleoffirstandsecondyearundergraduate students in the Medical/Health Science Department of one university in Kingston, Jamaica. The sample size was 295 students. Our resultsrevealedthatthispatternofdruguseisoccurringinthisspecificuniversity.Alcoholwasthemostfrequentlyreportedsubstance 27.5%,followedbycannabis6.1%andtobacco4.7%.Reportofpolydrugconsumptionwaslowforallcategoriesstudied.Ourfindings may inform interventions at the university level.
