A general system of particles (of one or several species) on a onedimensional lattice with boundaries is considered. Two general behaviors ofsuch systems are investigated. The stationary behavior of the system, and thedominant way of the relaxation of the system toward its stationary system.Bases on the first behavior, static phase transitions (discontinuous changes inthe stationary profiles of the system) are studied. Based on the secondbehavior, dynamical phase transitions (discontinuous changes in therelaxation-times of the system) are studied.
