O artigo confere uma atenção especial à relação entre sindicalismo e política internacional, um tema escassamente analisado pelos estudiosos do movimento sindical. Na primeira parte, assinalam-se algumas das contrariedades à construção de uma política sindical internacional, tanto a conduzida por organizações sindicais internacionais quanto por organizações sindicais nacionais. Na segunda parte, toma-se a Central Única dos Trabalhadores como objeto de estudo preferencial, identificando-se e caracterizando-se as principais etapas da sua política de relações internacionais. This article focuses on the relationship between trade unionism and international politics, a subject scarcely studied by scholars of trade unionism. The first part refers to some obstacles felt by union organizations when they have to construct their international relations policy. The second part analyses the international relations policy of the Brazilian CUT, pointing out its stages and key features
