A new species of genus Ablabesmyia is described. The larvae were collected associated with aquatic macrophytes in ponds from the Southeast of Brazil. In laboratory, the larvae were reared to obtain pupae and adults. É descrita uma nova espécie do gênero Ablabesmyia. As larvas foram coletadas associadas a macrófitas aquáticas de lagoas no Sudeste do Brasil. No laboratório, foram criadas para a obtenção das pupas e adultos
