A cultura da soja, em função da sua grande importância no agronegócio mundial, tem sido alvo de inúmeras pesquisas no campo agronômico. O presente trabalho comparou o desempenho de sementes produzidas a partir de lotes com tamanho de semente grande e pequena, durante o ano agrícola de 2006/2007. Foram utilizados três cultivares, com a padronização feita com peneiras dos tamanhos de 5,5 e 6,5mm de largura. O experimento foi implantado em área experimental da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, Campus de Pato Branco. Realizada a colheita, avaliou-se a produtividade das cultivares, peso de mil sementes, número de vagens por planta e número de sementes por vagem. O tamanho das sementes classificadas em peneiras de 5,5 e 6,5mm, utilizadas na semeadura não afeta a produtividade das cultivares de soja estudadas. Soybean cultivation because of its importance in global agribusiness, has been the target of much agronomic research. This study compared the performance of seed produced from lots of different seed sizes, during the 2006/2007 growing season. Three cultivars were used and the seed size was standardized with sieves of 5.5 and 6.5mm The experiment was carried out in the experimental area of the Federal Technological University of Parana, Pato Branco campus. After harvest, the following were evaluated : cultivar productivity, weight of a thousand seeds, number of pods per plant and number of seeds per pod. The results showed that the size of seeds used in planting did not affect the productivity of the soybean varieties studied
