The distribution area of the human biting midge Leptoconops brasiliensis (Lutz) was restricted to the litoral of Para state, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. This species was incrimined as important filariasis vector and a voracious human biting. Methods: Collections of biting midge were done in Assis Brasil, a small municipality in Acre State, bordering Peru and Bolivia. Results: In here, we report for the rst time the occurrence of L. brasiliensis in Acre State, Brazil, and to Peru and Bolivia. Conclusion: The specie Leptoconops brasiliensis has a large South American distribution.
