RESUMO A sigatoka negra causada por Mycosphaerella fijiensis (anamorfo Pseudocercospora fijiensis) é atualmente a doença mais importante na cultura da banana (Musa spp.). No mês de junho de 2004, foi identificada no município de Miracatu, SP, sobre as cultivares Galil 7, Galil 18 e Nam. As características típicas do fungo foram observadas ao microspcópio ótico. Esse é o primeiro relato da doença no Estado de São Paulo.
