This article analyzes the social worker's work in the current changing context of the contemporary capitalism, and it focuses on the transformations characterizing production and the labor world, as well as the resulting changes for social policies in such a context, where the professional intervention is privileged. The article emphasizes the political dimension of the professional work to build up the hegemony of the subaltern classes' interests in their daily work, and, to do that, its main reference is Antonio Gramsci's thoughts.
