〔目的〕高齢者を対象にウォーキングによる運動介入を行いその介入が身体・認知・心理機能に及ぼす効果について無作為割付け比較試験によって検討した。〔対象〕地域在住高齢者69名平均年齢72.0±4.4歳である。〔方法〕ウォーキングによる運動介入の前後に身体・認知・心理機能を評価し比較検討した。〔結果〕週3日1回につき30分のウォーキングを12週間継続できた介入群25名の測定値は介入後6分間歩行距離が延長し主観的健康感生活満足度生きがい感といった心理面の向上が認められた。一方その他の指標とした上下肢筋力や立位バランスなどの身体機能および認知機能には有意差は認められなかった。なお統制群29名におけるすべての測定値に有意差は認められなかった。〔結語〕ウォーキングによる運動介入は地域在住高齢者の介護予防や健康増進に有用である可能性が示唆された。ただし身体機能や認知機能を向上させるためには本研究における介入の期間や頻度および運動強度などの検討がさらに必要であることが明らかとなった。
