〔目的〕本研究の目的はメンタルローテーションを用いた運動イメージ想起能力の年代別基準値を作成しさらに高齢者については転倒との関係を検討することである。〔対象〕対象は20歳から86歳までの333名であった。〔方法〕4方向に回転させた手足の写真を見てそれが右側なのか左側なのかを判断するというメンタルローテーションを行いその反応時間を記録した。なお65歳以上高齢者に関しては測定日より1年間の観察期間を設けその間の転倒の有無を調査した。〔結果〕手足の写真ともにメンタルローテーション反応時間は加齢とともに延長する傾向にあった。また転倒高齢者の反応時間は非転倒高齢者よりも有意に延長していた。〔結語〕メンタルローテーションを用いた運動イメージ想起能力では加齢とともに延長する傾向がありさらに転倒リスクの高い高齢者の反応時間はより延長することが示唆された。
