This issue is primarily dedicated to the current topics on neural networks and stochastic models for information processing. For the advances of nonlinear science and technology, understanding and utilization of collective dynamics of nonlinear elements will be one of the key issues. Studies on neuronal systems provide not only interesting intrinsic nonlinear phenomena but also viewpoints for systematic approaches to such collective dynamics in terms of recent development of mathematics and information theory. Within the scopes described above, a number of qualified works ranging from fundamental studies on neural networks to implementations of novel ideas as hardware had been submitted, including one invited paper. On the behalf of the guest editorial board, the guest editor in chief would like to express sincerely thanks to the authors of those contributed papers, as well as to all the members of guest editorial board for their excellent handling of reviewing processes. In particular, he thanks to Prof. Shigeo Sato for his devoted works as secretaries of this section.
