The exercise test (ET) remains the most widely used and technically available test to diagnose and study the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). It is a crucial test in the management of patients with CAD. The most accepted indications for an ET in patients with known CAD are, in brief: to determine the likelihood of significant anatomical or functional CAD that may be of prognostic importance, to identify its functional class and to evaluate the effects of therapy [1].

Is the routine exercise test useful in stable coronary disease? An analysis of its value compared to exercise tests performed for prognostic purposes
