Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the sixth most common malignancy in the world. The incidence of oral carcinoma is more prevalent in males as they are twice more likely to develop oral carcinoma than women. 90% of people who develop oral carcinoma are those who use some sort of tobacco products. The etiology appears to be multifactorial and strongly related to lifestyle, mostly habits and diet. The five-year survival rate of oral carcinoma is about 50% which has not changed significantly in recent 50 years despite of advances in treatment modalities.
