On the other hand, she also explained that elementary students use mathematics on a daily basis to “estimate time,” in “dealing with money,” or for “spatial visualization stuff [such as] how to make it through a door” while carrying a lot of stuff (Alison, interview I). Video games, sports, and cooking were also examples that Alison gave to indicate the high relevance of mathematics in regular life. Despite the abstract dimension of mathematics, Alison indicated that she thought mathematics is accessible
