Word Processing is a fundamental skill for efficient computer literacy. E-learning has also been introduced to ensure wide dissemination of such fundamental content and skill even beyond the four walls of the school. However, best methodologies need to be identified for efficient instructional delivery. This study therefore determined the effects of Synchronous and Asynchronous e-learning modes on students’ academic achievement and skill acquisition in Word Processing. The study adopted a quasi – experimental research design, specifically, the pre- test, post- test, non equivalent and non randomized grouping involving two groups. The study revealed that both synchronous and asynchronous e – learning modes significantly increased students’ achievement and skill acquisition in word processing irrespective of the gender of the students. However, synchronous e-learning mode was observed to be better in skill acquisition.
