This paper’s aim is to support the product design process in education and proposes a general approach to product conceptual design phase in industrial engineering. A first review of design models and methods is done, then are highlighted several existing design problems seen from the industry and education perspective found in literature. The last part presents an approach that contributes to the mindset and understanding of the products’ conceptual design phase in industrial engineering and that can be successfully applied in practice.
