Bateria in an 0.1 % peptone soluti on with a concentration of 10 8 CFU/ml were completely inactivated after 2 min exposure with Su powa solution (50 mg/l active chlorine). Surface treatment of inoxidable table and plastic b asket with Supowa solution resulted in a quite better disinfection efficacy (p < 0.05) compared to the use of conventional disinfectant calcium hypochlorite. Treatment of raw octopus material using Supowa solution showed that its disinfecting efficacy was less manifested and sligh tly greater than the case of conventional disinfectant (p > 0.05). Supowa solution can be use d as a disinfectant for reducing bacteria on contacting surfaces and raw octopus materialsat sea food processing lines.
