The aim of the research was to: determine the extent, direction and pace of changes in regions with high and low urbanization, especially in rural areas: a) differences and similarities, directions and pace of changes in the voivodships (regions) b) technical and social infrastructure, c) level of development of non-agricultural activities in ruralareas, d) changes in the state and directions of agricultural development. Two voivodships were selected as the subject of research: Silesian with the highestlevel of urbanization and Świętokrzyskie with lowlevel of urbanization (15th position in the country). Dimensions, direction and pace of change in Poland were the point of reference for assessment of changes in selected voivodships. As a source of information, compact and continuous literature and publications of the Central Statistical Office were used. The information collected has been developed and interpreted using the vertical and horizontal comparative method, the statistical method and the relative valorization method. It was fund that: a) thereis a process of decreasing the territorial coverage of ruralareas, accompanied by an increase in the populationin habited by them; b) there are differences in the dynamics of economic development of the regions; Silesian is better than Świętokrzyskie, c) Silesian region ischaracterized by a higherlevel of technical and social infrastructure than Swietokrzyskie region, d) rural areas are increasingly fulfilling their residential function, increasing the level of technical and social infrastructure, e) rural areas are becoming more and more involved in the activities of entities registered in the REGON system. The image of entrepreneurship and its effects in rural areas is diverse; The most positive effects can be noted in Silesian region, f) there are big changes in the resources of agricultural production factors; loss of land and growth of other factors of production. The number and structure of farms is changing, g) Agricultural commodity production is increasing. The high estincrease in the zł / 1 ha of purchaseprice in the analyzed years occurred in Silesian region, slightly smaller in the country, and the lowest in Świętokrzyskie region. The Świętokrzyski Region is also characterized by the lowest purchase price per 1 ha of UR.
