Insomniamerupakangejaladari depresipada usia lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahuiperbedaanantarageriatric depression scale (GDS) kelompokusia lanjut dengan insomnia dan GDS kelompokusia lanjut tanpainsomnia. Penelitian ini merupakan studi observasional dengan rancangan potong-lintang analitik. Penelitiandilakukanpadaindividuberusia 60 tahunkeatas. Untukmengetahuiperbedaanantara GDSdenganinsomniadantanpa insomniadigunakanuji Mann-Whitney.Sebanyak 87sampelmasukdalampenelitianini.Rerataumurpenderitaadalah 69,23tahundenganrangeantara 60 sampai 98 tahun. Uji Mann-Whitneymendapatkanperbedaanbermaknaantara GDS kelompokusialanjut dengan insomnia dan GDS kelompokusialanjuttanpa insomnia(P<0,001). Padapenelitian ini didapatkanperbedaanbermaknaantara GDS kelompokusialanjutdengan insomnia dan GDS kelompokusialanjuttanpa insomnia. Disarankan pada semua individu dengan insomnia harus dilakukan skrining untuk depresi,begitu juga sebaliknya.[MEDICINA.2016;50(3):12-16]. Insomnia can be a symptom of depression in the elderly. This studywasaimedto determine thedifference betweengeriatric depression scale (GDS) group of elderly with insomnia and without insomnia. This study was anobservational study with cross-sectional analytical design. The study was conducted in individuals with the age 60yearsoldorabove. The Mann-Whitney testwasused to determine thedifference between GDS group of elderly withinsomnia and without insomnia. A total of 87 sampleswereincluded in this study. The meanofagewas69.23 yearsoldwith a range between 60 to 98 years old. Mann-Whitney test showed that thereweresignificant differencesbetweenGDS group ofelderly with insomnia and GDS group of elderly without insomnia(P<0.001).In this studywefound asignificantdifference between GDS group of elderly with insomnia and without insomnia.We suggest that inelderlyindividuals with insomnia should be screening for depression, and vice versa.
