In this study the changing influence of behavior therapy on several neuropsychological functions was investigated. The main interest was focused on the effects on executive functions. The hypothesis was maintained, that depressive persons resist more against changes in executive functions than against other functions. 26 depressive patients participated in extensive pre-post-tests, in an interval of approximately 7 months during their out-patient behavior therapy. The results are described, discussed and are set in relation to research questions, above all to possible factors of reason. From this theoretical and psychobiological ideas are derived and new proposals for research and treatment are described.
