In this text of theoretical-methodological reflection, we discuss the adoption of McLuhan and McLuhan’s Tetrad (1988), as a method to compose research paths that aim to verify reconfigurations in journalistic practices, processes and products in the contemporary media ecosystem. Firstly, Media Ecology is presented as an explanatory basis for understanding the current media context. Then, we present concepts and concepts that anchor the reflection on journalism, understood as a social institution that (re) legitimizes over time. Next, tetrad is addressed, to finally present an outline of the application of the adapted method.
