Sweetened beverage intake by Americans has increased 135% from 1977 to 2001.1 Cola soft drinks are predominantly composed of varying chemicals which function as preservatives, colorings, and artificial flavoring.2 However, due to trade secrets, there are unidentified ingredients included, such as ‘merchandise 7x’.
