Th is article is an attempt at presenting the problem of probation in Poland. It contains a summary of the institutions falling within the defi nition of this concept. Th e article is divided into three parts. Th e fi rst two concern the solutions contained in the Polish Penal Code. Th e third part is devoted to the subject of social factor’s participation in the form of non-governmental organizations. Th e paper also presents statistics illustrating the scale of the phenomenon of probation in Poland.
