The crystal structure of Na 2 MnF 5  has been investigated by high pressure single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction techniques. The unit cell parameters have been determined in the pressure range from ambient conditions to 2.93 GPa. The  P 2 1 / c  space group symmetry is retained in this pressure range. Above 3 GPa the single crystals collapse and a polycrystalline specimen is formed. Preliminary high pressure powder diffraction studies show that the transformation occurs in the range 3–4 GPa. The transition is reversed when the pressure is lowered.
