The crystal and molecular structure of bis[ N -(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylidene)-2-mercaptoanilinato] zinc(II), [(C 16 H 16 NO 3 S) 2 Zn], has been determined at room temperature. The compound crystallizes in the tetragonal system, space group  P 4 2 /n, with unit cell dimensions  a  = 11.6726(1) Å,  c  = 24.6274(3) Å,  Z  = 4 and  D  x  = 1.326 g · cm −3 . The structure was refined by a full-matrix least-squares procedure on  F  2  to final  R  = 0.0582 using 2921 reflections with  I  ≥ 2 σ ( I ). The zinc atom shows distorted tetrahedral coordination. The five-membered ring adopts envelope conformation.
