The crystal and molecular structures of (endo, anti)-5-ethylidene-1,2,3,3,6,7-hexamethyl-6-(4-methoxyphenyl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene (C 22 H 30 O) (DA-1) and (endo, anti)-1,3,4,5,6,7-hexamethyl-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-one (C 20 H 26 O 2 ) (DA-2) have been resolved by X-ray diffraction methods. DA-1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group  P 2 1 / a  with  a  = 13.189(1) Å.  b  = 8.4285(2) Å,  c  = 18.033(2) Å and  β  = 109.155°(5) Å.  Z  = 4. DA-2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group  Pbca  with  a  = 11.546(1) Å,  b  = 16.750(1) Å and  c  = 17.986 Å.  Z  = 8. The structures were solved by direct methods and refined by least-square procedures to final  R -values of 0.054 (DA-1) and 0.046 (DA-2) for 3244 (DA-1) and 1784 (DA-2) unique observed reflections with I ≥ 2 σ (I).
