The crystal structures of the title compounds were determined by single crystal X-ray methods, they are isotypic with natrochalcite, NaCu 2 (OH)(SO 4 ) 2  · H 2 O; space group  C 2/ m  ( Z  = 2). A comparison with other natrochalcite-type compounds is given, pointing out the variability of this structure type. X-ray measurements on a natural sample of natrochalcite excellently agree with the data for synthetic NaCu 2 (OH)(SO 4 ) 2  · H 2 O.
