The crystal structure of  trans -2-isopropyl-1,3-dioxane-5-carbothioamide has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The crystals are monoclinic,  a  = 4.923(1),  b  = 9.008(2),  c  = 22.802(4) Å,  β  = 96.925(2)°, space group  P 2 1 / c ,  Z  = 4. The structure was refined to  R  = 0.089 and  R w   = 0.085 by block-diagonal least-squares methods, using 743 independent reflections measured with a single-crystal diffractometer. The amino group takes part in an intermolecular hydrogen bond.
