The crystal structure of bis(thiourea) lead(II) nitrate (monoclinic;  a  = 7.212(1) Å,  b  = 17.952(2) Å,  c  = 9.475(1) Å,  β  = 108.6(1)°,  Z  = 4, space group  P 2 1 / c ) has been determined from the intensities of 2143 independent reflections measured from a spherically ground crystal (graphite-monochromated Mo Kα ; 4-circle diffractometer;  R  = 6.3%). The structure is described in terms of zig-zag chains of composition [Pb(tu) 2 ] 2 +  running in the [100] direction; the Pb(II) moieties are linked through S atoms by pairs of thiourea molecules. In addition five oxygen atoms of three NO 3  −  ions are coordinated to each Pb(II) moiety. There is hydrogen bonding between thiourea molecules, and between thiourea molecules and NO 3  −  ions.
