The structures of the compounds LiP and KSb have been redetermined with single crystal diffractometer data. They are isotypic with LiAs (space group  P 2 1 / c ; LiP:  a  = 558.2pm;  b  = 494.0pm;  c  = 1025.5pm;  β  = 118.15°; 564 reflections  hkl ;  R  = 0.021; KSb:  a  = 715.6pm;  b  = 691.7pm;  c  = 1335.5 pm;  β  = 115.17°; 1115 reflections  hkl ;  R  = 0.028). The structures are characterized by one-dimensional infinite  ∞  1 [Y - ] helices with  d (P–P) = 220.5 and 222.4pm and  d (Sb–Sb) = 282.9 and 285.2pm, respectively. The alcali metal atoms are surrounded by a distorted octahedron of Y atoms with  đ (Li–P) = 268 pm and  đ (K–Sb) = 362 pm.
