Thermal expansion tensors  α ij   measured on three ammonium and three potassium Oxalates, (NH 4 ) 2 C 2 O 4  · H 2 O, NH 4 HC 2 O 4 . ½ H 2 O, NH 4 H 3 (C 2 O 4 ) 2  · 2H 2 O, K 2 C 2 O 4  · H 2 O, KHC 2 O 4  and KH 3 (C 2 O 4 ) 2  · 2H 2 O, at 30°C exhibit a high anisotropy. The directions of maximum thermal expansion nearly coincide with the directions of minimum elastic stiffness. Negative values of the  α  tensor may be explained as due to Poisson contraction. The Grüneisen tensors derived from  α ij   and the elastic constants show a considerably lower anisotropy.
