Aspheric lenses have become a synonym for high-performance optics. With an aspherical surface it is possible to correct a great number of aberrations in an optical system that otherwise would require a combination of several spherical ones. However the production of aspherical elements is substantially more complex as in the case of spherical ones because they require different production and measurement procedures. A flexible solution to the aspheric metrology problem without the use of additional compensation optics is presented.
