Redox behaviour of Pu(IV)/Pu(III) couple in 1 M H 2 SO 4  was investigated on platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs)-modified glassy carbon (GC) and Pt electrodes. PtNPs-modified electrodes were prepared by electrodeposition of Pt from 10 mM K 2 PtCl 4 +0.1 M H 2 SO 4  solution. Redox kinetics were observed to improve in both the oxidation and reduction processes after electrodeposition of PtNPs in contrast to bare electrodes. However, significant improvement was seen for the reduction of Pu(IV) to Pu(III) in PtNPs coated GC electrode compared to bare GC electrode. These studies are of great relevance to develop electroanalytical methodologies for Pu determination using nanoparticles modified electrodes.
