Verteilte, nachrichtengekoppelte Systeme erfreuen sich wachsender Beliebtheit. Im Gegensatz zu speichergekoppelten Systemen müssen hier jedoch Verzögerungszeiten hingenommen werden, die das Einsatzspektrum einschränken und für fehlertolerante Anwendungen nicht mehr akzeptabel sind. Als Lösungsansatz für dieses Problem wird ein objektorientiertes Kommunikationsverfahren eingeführt. Die in der objektorientierten Methodik übliche, enge Kopplung der Funktionen an ihre Datenobjekte wird dazu genutzt, explizite Kommunikationsdienste durch implizit angestoßene Objektmethoden zu ersetzen. Es wird ein Hardwarekonzept beschrieben, mit dem das objektorientierte Kommunikationsverfahren leistungsfähig realisiert werden konnte. Der Aufwand für die Hardware ist mit konventionellen Kommunikationssystemen vergleichbar. Eine modellbasierte Bewertung zeigt, daß abhängig von der Komplexität des Kommunikationsdienstes eine Leistungssteigerung zwischen 7 bei einfachen und 38 bei fehlertoleranten Transaktionen zu erreichen ist. Distributed, message coupled systems enjoy a rising popularity. In difference to memory coupled systems delay times have to be accepted which shrink the applicable area and which can not be accepted for fault tolerant applications. As a solution for this problems an object oriented communication concept will be introduced. The tight coupling between functions and their data objects usual in object oriented methodology will be used to replace explicit calls to communication functions by implicitly activated object methods. A hardware concept for implementing object oriented communication powerfully will be described. The expence for this hardware is comparable to communication systems of the shelf. A modell based evaluation shows that depending on the compexity of the communication services a performance gain between 7 for simple an 38 for fault-tolerant transactions can be reached.
