The extension project Performing Analysis, which took place in 2019, consisted of six modules gathering material on performance analysis in football, with the participation of recognized professionals in this area. The modules involved the concept appropriation and performance analysis phases. The general objective of the project was to enable the participants to carry out analysis of the performance of football matches in order to develop critical observation of data and to report in a cohesive and coherent way qualitative and quantitative aspects that assist the coach. The theoretical assumption of this extension action is Ausubel’s (2003) theory of significant learning, which takes into account students’ prior knowledge in learning new concepts. We observed that the project was justified, especially, by developing the students’ observation capacity with regard to the relevant aspects of the collective and individual performance analysis.
