Self-esteem and mental health care of students in dental hygiene department who will be responsible for the future of oral health related work is an important issue. In order to solve this psychological problem, a relational analysis between self-esteem, depression and stress is needed. Therefore, this study has examined the self-esteem, depression and stress of students in dental hygiene department by school system and looked into the correlation between these factors. A survey using an individual self entry method was conducted targeting 98 students of a three year course dental hygiene department and 164 students of a four year course dental hygiene department. As a result of this study, self-esteem was shown to be slightly higher for a four year course students than the three year students and for depression index and stress index, it was shown slightly higher for a three year course students than the four year course students. When examining the correlation between the self-esteem, depression and stress, when the self-esteem was higher depression index and stress index was lower, and when the self-esteem was lower the depression index and stress index was shown to be higher. •
