This paper is an analysis of equality, same that begins with a brief overview of its evolution. The study parts from three conceptualizations: as a principle, as a rule and as a guarantee . It also reflects on the principle of equality from the Constitution, then refer to the two kinds of equality: formal, substantial or material, as well as their respective manifestations, which becomes visible the significant progress made in the decisions of the Supreme Court.
