Bacteriochlorophyll b (bchl b) has been isolated from the halophilic photosynthetic bacterium, Ectothiorhodospira halochloris. The pigment and a series of derivatives thereof are different from Bchl b from Rhodopseudomonas viriais by HPLC analysis, but similar by uv-vis spectroscopy.
