From cultures of Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca in addition to variegatic acid (1), methyl variegate (2) and variegatorubin (5), three new derivatives of pulvinic acid have been isolated. They were identified as 3-O-methylvariegatic acid (3), its methyl ester 4 and 3-O-methylvariegatorubin (6) by means of spectroscopy and comparison with synthetic samples.
