If Agrobacterium tumefaciens is treated with 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MP) and irradiated with long wave UV the subsequent growth of the bacteria is stopped whereas respiration continues for at least 7 hours. Treatment with 8-MP or UV alone has no effect.
