1,3,5-Tri(1 H -imidazol-4-yl)benzene (H 3 L) reacts with Ni(ClO 4 ) 2  · 6H 2 O under hydrothermal conditions at  T  = 100°C to yield a new complex: [Ni(H 2 L) 2 ] · 5.5H 2 O ( 1 ). The product is characterized by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. Complex  1  crystallizes in the monoclinic space group  C 2/ c  and exhibits a binodal (3,6)-connected 2D  kgd  network structure with (4 3 ) 2 (4 6 .6 6 .8 3 ) topology.
