Reactions of the palladium(II) complexes trans-Cl 2 Pd(L-NH 2 CHRCO 2 Me) 2  with AgBF 4  in dichloromethane give the cationic chelate complexes [Pd(L-NH 2 CHRCO 2 Me) 2 ] 2+ (BF 4 -) 2  (R =CHMe 2 , CMe 3 , CH 2 CHMe 2 , CH 2 Ph, CH 2 CO 2 Me) inwhich the α-amino acid methylesters function as bidendate ligands. The complexes 1 - 5 are highly sensitive towards water.
