The title compound was obtained by the reaction of 3,5-dimethyl-2H-1,2,6-thiadiazine-1,1-dioxide with PCI 5  in chloroform. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2 1 /c, a = 7.521(7) Å, b = 8.400(4) Å, c = 13.908(4) Ä, β = 100.35(4)°, V = 864.4(8) Å 3 , and Z = 4. The S(VI) atom lies 0.43 Å out of the plane of the π-delocalized NCCCN unit. The mean S-N bond distance is 1.569(3) Å.
