Treatment of the ferrio-phosphane Cp(OC) 2 Fe-PPh 2  (1) with Me 3 P (2) yields Cp(OC)(Me 3 P)Fe-PPh 2  (3) via CO-substitution. Reaction of 3 with methylisothiocyanate (4) leads to the formation of the adduct Cp(OC)(Me 3 P)Fe-PPh 2  -C(S)NMe (5), which is regioselectively methylated at the sulfur atom with Mel (6a) or MeSO 3 CF 3  (6b), respectively, to give the cationic complexes [Cp(OC)(Me 3 P)Fe-PPh 2  -C(SMe)=NMe]I/CF 3  SO 3 (7a,b). In contrast, protonation with CF 3 SO 3 H (8 ) occurs at the nitrogen atom, yielding [Cp(OC)(Me 3 P)Fe-PPh 2 - C(S)-N(H)Me]CF 3 SO 3  (9).
