2,2,4,4-Tetrakis-(dimethylamino)-6-amino-1-aza-2λ 5 ,4λ 5 -diphosphinine (3) has been prepared by reacting 1,1,3,3-tetrakis(dimethylamino)-1λ 5 -3λ 5 -diphosphete (1) with bis(trimethylsilyl) carbodiimide (2) in a 2 : 1 molar ratio. Properties,  1 H,  31 P, and  13 C NMR, mass, and IR spectra are reported and discussed. Compound 3 is further characterized by X-ray structure analysis.
