The reactions of the tridentate ligands (Me 3 Si) 2 NC(4-RC 6 H 4 )NPPh,NSiMe 3  [(1): R=H, (2): R=CF 3 ] with Re 2 O 7  yield the six-membered rings, (4): R=CF 3 ]. The acyclic compound Me 3 SiNC(4-CF 3 C 6 H 4 )NPPh 2 NReO 2 OSiMe 3  (5) has been obtained by reaction of 2 with Me 3 SiOReO 3-  2 reacts quantitatively with TeCl 4  to form the metallacycle. The molecular structures of 4·CH 2 Cl 2  and 6 · pyridine · 0.5 toluene have been determined by X-ray diffraction.
